Re: Alapaha river
I've never been there, so how often does the river have no water in it to be a dry river bed ?
Sounds like more goverment fast talk to say you can do something when, then when never comes.

Re: Alapaha river
Dave, parts of it dry up. It's hard to tell when the water will go down or when it'll flood. Not really any set cycle. Maybe those who live closer can elaborate further on the tides lol
We've camped in the river bed before. Dry as a bone. Linz was making "snow angels" in the sand in the middle of the "river". lol Rode it several times. You can go as far as you can in either direction until the water gets too deep. Several miles the last time we were there.
But for $100? I'd rather use that to pay for some fuel up to riverrock or similar.

I wonder what the fine is for wheeling without a permit. Might be cheaper for us once a year users
Had god not driven man from the Garden of Eden, the Sierra Club would have.

Fines start at $150.00 and go up to $500.00. We use this area several times a year. I think its a worth while cause. The price of the permit may be negotiable. We are just trying to let the authority know that we are serious and want to watch after a place that we can ride. Just my two cents worth
